The new Office of Siachen Farmer Producer Organisation Cooperative Ltd, Panamik Block (FPO) was formally inaugurated by Hon’ble Councillor Tegar, Sh. Rigzen Lundup, Tiger Constituency at Sumoor Nubra on 19.05.2025,
in presence of Sh Skarma Tashi, District Audit Officer/ Assistant Registrar Cooperative, Nubra, president and other members of the FPO as part of Celebration of International Year of Cooperatives (IYC) 2025. The new office marks a significant milestone in FPO’s growth and commitment for development of cooperative sector and generation of farmers income. The Siachen Farmer Producer Organisation Cooperative Ltd, Panamik Block (FPO) is registered with Cooperative Department and formation is part of initaives of Ministry of Cooperation Govt of India and will be funded and hand-holded by National Cooperative Development Corpotion Govt of India.
Sh Skarma Tashi District Audit Officer, Leh and Assistant Registrar Cooperative Nubra highlighted the significance of celebration of International Year of Cooperatives 2025 and the planned activities for the year and emphasised on strengthening existing cooperatives societies for the betterment of farmers and the general public. He further said that the FPO formation Siachen Farmers Cooperative Ltd, Panamic block is part of ‘Formation and Promotion of 10,000 FPOs by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer welfare, GOI under Cooperative sector being impleneted by Coopeative Department, Leh in collaboration with National Cooperative Development Corporation(NCDC), Ministry of Cooperation Govt of India.
In his address, the chief guest Sh. Rigzen Lundup, Hon’ble Councillor, Tegar in his address, advised the farmers to take full advantage of the various schemes launched by the Central government. He emphasized the importance of utilizing these schemes to improve their agriculture practices and livelihoods. The Councillor urged the farmers to stay informed about the new schemes and benefits available to them. The focus was on the recently introduced contral sector Schemes aimed at supporting farmers and agricultural developments. Empowering farmers by leveraging these schemes, farmers can enhance their productivity, income and over all well-being. He further said that with the release of first Instalment of Rs3.00 lakhs to the FPO by National Cooperative Development Corporation, Shimla (NCDC), the FPO has been able to setup its new Office, appointed the CEO of the FPO and other Office bearers with provision for training in packaging, branding and marketing in a phased manner. Sh Jigmeth Namgail Manager Jammu and Kashmir bank Sumoor, briefed the farmers about the various bank loan and bankable schemes offered by the bank, tailored to meet the needs of farmers and agricultural businesses.
