Leh, March 27, 2025: The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Leh, in collaboration with PARAKH, NCERT New Delhi, organized a one-day orientation program on the Holistic Progress Card (HPC) for Headmasters of high schools. and middle schools across the Leh district.
The Holistic Progress Card is an initiative by PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development), launched by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). This initiative aims to provide a comprehensive framework for assessing students’ overall development, going beyond traditional academic evaluations. It encompasses multiple dimensions of learning, including cognitive, socio-emotional, physical, and creative aspects. By promoting a balanced approach to assessment, PARAKH seeks to cultivale well-rounded individuals who are not only academically proficient but also emotionally intelligent, socially responsible, and creatively inclined.
The workshop was inaugurated by Ms. Bhanu Prabha(IAS), Secretary of School Education, UT Ladakh. In her keynote address, she expressed her gratitude to PARAKH NCERT for providing experts for the session. She highlighted how this initiative would greatly support head teachers in evaluating not only students academic performance but also their social skills, emotional intelligence, creativity, and engagement in extracurricular activities, Ms. Prabha further emphasized the importance of adopting a competency-
based learning approach and stressed the need to prepare students across all grades for upcoming large-scale assessment surveys. She pointed out that these surveys play a crucial role in reflecting the overall health of the state’s education system.
Professor Indrani Bhaduri, CEO and Head, PARAKH, in her keynote address, emphasized that, as per the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, PARAKH has developed the Holistic Progress Cards for all stages-Foundational, Preparatory, Middle, and Secondary-in collaboration with all States and Union Territories. She shared that the HPCs have been piloted at the District level in all States and UTs and have now been finalized. PARAKH in collaboration with the States and UTs is disseminating the four HPCs at the District level, and she would like the Union Territory of Ladakh to implement the HPCs in all schools.
Ms. Deldan Angmo, Principal of DIET, extended her thanks to Prof. Indrani Bhaduri and the resource persons from PARAKH NCERT for conducting the workshop.
Additionally, Ms. Thinless Wangmo, NAS Coordinator, presented a brief overview of the interventions and initiatives undertaken by DIET Leh in alignment with the PARAKH
A total of 130 Headmasters from various schools participated in the training. Resource persons from PARAKH, NCERT conducted sessions on the different components of the Holistic Progress Card (HPC), in the context of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF-FS & SE) and NEP 2020
