The campaign trail in the Chenab region witnessed fervor today as Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah addressed a series of public meetings in Paddar, Gulabgarh, and Nagseni. In his impassioned speeches, Abdullah echoed the prevailing sentiment of anti-BJP fervor resonating across the region.
Omar Abdullah minced no words in denouncing the BJP’s policies, asserting that public resentment against the incumbent party is palpable. He emphasized that the BJP has failed to deliver on its promises, leading to disenchantment among the populace. Abdullah highlighted the widespread dissatisfaction with what he termed the BJP’s “anti-people” measures, claiming they have deprived locals of their entitlements and employment opportunities.
“The claims made by BJP leaders regarding development in the Udhampur-Doda Constituency are far from reality,” Abdullah asserted, challenging the BJP’s touted development narrative.
The NC vice president emphasized that the sentiment against BJP cuts across the constituency, encompassing 18 Assembly segments across the districts of Ramban, Kishtwar, Doda, Udhampur, and Kathua. He pointed out that despite the BJP’s ten-year tenure in the region, unemployed youth remain disillusioned, alleging that government jobs and contracts are being siphoned off by non-locals.
Omar Abdullah’s roadshows in Kishwar and Paddar marked the second day of his extensive tour, rallying support for the INDI Alliance candidate, Ch Lal Singh. He was accompanied by a host of senior party leaders, including Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, Rattan Lal Gupta, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, Qazi Jalal Ud Din, and other prominent figures.
Meanwhile, the political landscape saw the exchange intensify as DPAP chief Ghulam Nabi Azad took a swipe at Omar Abdullah, accusing him of being a ‘tourist’ in the valley. Azad challenged Abdullah’s credibility, questioning his absence from critical regions during his tenure as CM.
The electoral battle is heating up as the silence period commences, with anticipation mounting for the decisive day. Dr. Jitendra Singh faces an uphill task amid the growing anti incumbency factor gripping the Chenab region.
As the blackout period begins , only time will reveal the resonance of the anti-BJP wave. The political showdown promises twists and turns, setting the stage for an electrifying conclusion on the D-Day.
