In a chilling turn of events, the nefarious activities of notorious land grabber Ravinder Kumar alias Gola Shah have once again come to the forefront, this time entangled in the tragic murder of a 39-year-old man in Greater Kailash. The victim, Avtar Singh, son of Balbir Singh, was ruthlessly attacked by assailants allegedly linked to Gola Shah’s criminal enterprise on Monday evening. Avtar’s family has leveled serious allegations against certain police officers, accusing them of collusion in land grabbing and failing to prevent the heinous crime.

As the sun set over Greater Kailash, Avtar Singh’s life was snuffed out amidst a backdrop of land disputes and illicit dealings orchestrated by Gola Shah. The victim’s grieving family, speaking from the corridors of the GMC hospital in Jammu, revealed a grim tale of threats and intimidation they endured at the hands of Gola Shah’s henchmen.

“We repeatedly warned the authorities about Gola Shah’s threats” lamented Balbir Singh. “But the police turned a blind eye, allowing these criminals to operate with impunity.”

The roots of this tragedy delve deep into a sordid history of land transactions marred by fraud and duplicity. Balbir Singh recounted how Gola Shah had initially sold them a parcel of land in 2008, only to resell the same property to a relative of former SSP in 2018.

He had also sold the part of same land to the relative of former Divisional commissioner.

This double-dealing laid the groundwork for a deadly confrontation that claimed Avtar’s life.

The victim’s family’s grievances are echoed by Taranjit Singh Tony, an Ex-DDC Member, who has joined their protest, condemning land grabbers resurgence and the alleged complicity of certain police officials.

“Gola Shah’s brazen activities were momentarily curbed during the tenure of Dilbagh Singh as IGP Jammu Zone,” remarked Taranjit Singh Tony. “However, his reemergence signals a grave failure of law enforcement to contain this menace.” He lambasted SHO Gangyal, Inspector, Harmohinder Singh and PSI, Puneet Sharma for being hand in glove with the assailants who murdered Avtar Singh.

He urged LG Manoj Sinha to set an example by issuing strict orders against Land grabbers and register a murder case against corrupt Police officers who were involved in this murder.

Gola Shah’s rap sheet reads like a catalog of criminal exploits, spanning over two decades and encompassing multiple FIRs related to land grabbing, fraud, and violent offenses. Despite previous arrests and legal actions, including two instances of Public Safety Act (PSA) detention, Gola Shah has continued to evade justice, flourishing in a world of corruption and deceit.

The Jammu police have renewed their call to the public to come forward with any information or complaints regarding Gola Shah’s fraudulent activities. This appeal comes on the heels of yet another arrest in 2022 under the PSA, underscoring the urgency to dismantle Gola Shah’s criminal empire.

Moreover, the allegations against IC/PP Greater Kailash SI Puneet Sharma and SHO Gangyal Inspector Harmohinder Singh raise serious questions about the integrity of law enforcement in combating organized crime and protecting innocent lives.

As Avtar Singh’s family awaits justice, their plight serves as a poignant reminder of the perilous grip that Gola Shah and his accomplices maintain over the region—a stark testament to the urgent need for decisive action to root out corruption and restore faith in the rule of law.
