Srinagar : In a significant administrative action, authorities have suspended a Naib Tehsildar for leaving his post without permission and thereby jeopardizing the ongoing annual Amarnath Yatra.

An order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Anantnag states, “Sh. Ovais Amir, Naib Tehsildar Pahalgam, is hereby placed under suspension for leaving the station without permission and sabotaging the ongoing SANJY 2024.”

The Amarnath Yatra, an annual pilgrimage attracting thousands of devotees, requires meticulous planning and coordination to ensure the safety and smooth passage of pilgrims. Any disruption in administrative oversight can have serious implications for the security and management of the Yatra.

The order further mentions that the Sub Divisional Magistrate of Kokernag will conduct an inquiry into the Naib Tehsildar’s noncompliance. During the suspension period, Ovais Amir will be attached to the office of the Deputy Commissioner.
