JAMMU: In a significant boost to the farming community of Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to virtually distribute ₹182.55 crore to 8.46 lakh farmers under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme on June 18. This event, part of the 17th installment of the scheme, will be orchestrated from the Prime Minister’s parliamentary constituency of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
A Nationwide Celebration of Farmers…
In a grand spectacle, PM Modi will release ₹20,000 crore to benefit a staggering 9,25,99,513 farmers nationwide. The Prime Minister will also personally hand out certificates to five Self Help Groups (SHGs) of Krishi Sakhis in Varanasi, while 30,000 SHGs will receive their certificates virtually. Union Ministers and various dignitaries will attend events across 50 locations in India to celebrate this significant disbursement and engage with the farming community.

Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Dr. Jitendra Singh, will join the event from the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) in Jammu. Concurrently, Union Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai, will attend the function in Pulwama, South Kashmir. These ministers, along with other dignitaries, will distribute certificates to the SHGs of Krishi Sakhis and address the gathered farmers.

The amount of ₹182.55 crore will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of the 8.46 lakh beneficiary farmers in Jammu and Kashmir.
