KATHUA POLICE ATTACHES PROPERTY WORTH ₹20.56 LAKH BELONGING TO DRUG PEDDLER IN MAJOR ACTION AT PS BILLAWAR

Kathua : In a decisive and strategic move against the drug menace in the region, the Kathua Police has attached immovable property worth ₹20.56 lakh belonging to a notorious drug peddler under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The operation, executed by Police Station Billawar, marks a significant step in the ongoing crackdown on narcotics-related crimes in District Kathua.
The property — a single-storey building — is owned by Imran Ali, son of Shamash Din, resident of Malhar and presently residing at Dadwara, Tehsil Billawar. Imran Ali is currently in judicial custody in connection with FIR No. 144/2024 under sections 8/21/22/27-A/29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Billawar.
Crackdown Under NDPS Act:
The attachment was carried out under Sections 68-A(2)(c) and 68-E read with Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985, which empowers the law enforcement agencies to seize properties acquired through the proceeds of narcotics trafficking. The investigation revealed that the attached property had been acquired through funds generated from illicit drug trade.
The action was carried out by a police team led by Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq, SHO Police Station Billawar, under the close supervision of SP Operations Upper Kathua Sh. Aumer Iqbal and SDPO Billawar Sh. Neeraj Padyar (JKPS), and overall guidance of SSP Kathua Sh. Shobit Saksena (IPS).
