J&K Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers in Bishnah: 265 Grams of Heroin, Firearm Recovered

Jammu :In a significant crackdown on narcotics and criminal activities, the Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two drug peddlers in the Bishnah area and recovered 265 grams of heroin-like substance along with a firearm from their possession. The operation, conducted by a team from Police Station (PS) Bishnah, is seen as a notable achievement in the fight against the illegal drug trade in the region.

Acting on a specific tip-off, police identified the suspects as Jaswinder Singh, son of Kulbir Singh, and Jarnail Singh, son of Harpal Singh, both residents of Ward No. 2, Bhour Camp, Chatta. The duo, known for their involvement in narcotics trafficking, was reportedly moving in a vehicle bearing registration number JK02BN 0205. The police set up a naka (checkpoint) at Palli Morh, Ring Road, Bishnah, in collaboration with the Executive Magistrate of Bishnah.

During the search of the intercepted vehicle, police recovered 265 grams of a heroin-like substance, a pistol, and two live cartridges. A case under FIR No. 209/2024 was registered at PS Bishnah under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and Arms Act.

The arrested individuals are habitual offenders with extensive criminal backgrounds. Jaswinder Singh, also known as “Jimmy,” has six FIRs registered against him in different police stations in Jammu district, while Jarnail Singh is implicated in two FIRs.

The operation was led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of PS Bishnah under the close supervision of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) R.S. Pura Nikhil Gongna, SP Ajay Sharma( JKPS) and the overall direction of the Joginder Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu .

This arrest marks a critical breakthrough in curbing the narcotics trade and violent crime in the region. Further investigation is underway to identify the source and network of the recovered contraband and to ascertain the suspects’ involvement in other criminal activities. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring a drug-free society.
