J&K Awarded Highest Achiever in Overall Renewable Energy Capacity Amongst UTs by MNRE, GoI

GUJARAT:The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, hosted the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investment Meet & Expo (RE-INVEST) from 16-18 September 2024 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. This three-day event, inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, aimed to showcase India’s progress in the renewable energy sector and promote investment in green technologies.
The event saw participation from over 10,000 delegates, including key dignitaries such as Shri Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Chief Ministers, and international representatives from countries like Australia, Germany, Denmark, the USA, and UAE. The agenda included 44 sessions covering topics from technical discussions to a special session on “Women as Leaders in Accelerating Energy Transition.” A significant portion of the event was dedicated to India’s commitment to achieving 500 GW of non-fossil power by 2030 under the Prime Minister’s vision of Panchamrit.
Jammu & Kashmir stood out as a top performer, being awarded Certificates of Recognition in three categories:
Highest Achiever in Hydro Power Capacity
Third Highest Achiever in Solar Power Capacity
Highest Achiever in Overall Renewable Energy Capacity
These recognitions underline J&K’s critical role in India’s ambitious energy transition goals. The delegation from J&K, led by Commissioner/Secretary Science & Technology, Shri Saurabh Bhagat (IAS), and Chief Executive Officer of JAKEDA, Dr. P. R. Dhar, represented the Union Territory, showcasing its contributions towards renewable energy targets.
RE-INVEST 2024 brought together key stakeholders from government, industry, and international entities to discuss innovative financing, green hydrogen, capacity building, and future energy solutions. The exhibition featured public and private sector companies, startups, and state governments, including Gujarat as the host. The event also facilitated numerous B2B, B2G, and G2G meetings via a dedicated digital platform to boost investment in the renewable energy sector.
As India continues its journey towards achieving 500 GW of non-fossil power by 2030, events like RE-INVEST play a pivotal role in connecting investors with India’s renewable energy market, now the 4th largest globally. The valedictory session will be chaired by the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankar.
