Special attention was directed towards implementing a detailed operational strategy, termed “Operation Third Eye,” aimed at monitoring pilgrims’ routes, stay areas, and Langar (community kitchen) sites.
In terms of crowd control and public safety, officers were instructed to establish additional checkpoints (“nakas”) in both city areas and border regions, particularly during nighttime and early morning hours. Logistics and Emergency Preparedness:
DIG Sharma and his team reviewed contingency plans to manage the anticipated surge in pilgrim numbers. Key logistical concerns like traffic regulation, designated parking zones, and medical facilities were thoroughly discussed. Officers were tasked with organizing emergency response services to address health or security incidents effectively. Disaster management protocols were evaluated to ensure prompt handling of any unexpected situations, with adequate medical and support teams on standby.
Site Visit and Coordination with BSF:
Following the meeting, DIG Sharma visited the old Kahnachack BSF Post to discuss additional security measures with Border Security Force (BSF) authorities. The discussions focused on bolstering surveillance and fortifying sensitive border areas to safeguard pilgrims and local communities during the Mela.
