JAMMU : TheJammu and Kashmir Police hosted a one-day workshop at the District Police Lines (DPL) Jammu, showcasing the integration of key digital tools to modernize investigative processes across the Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) range. Conducted by experts from the Crime Headquarters (CHQ), the session emphasized the adoption of e-Sakshya, e-Summons, and MedLEaPR applications. These tools are set to streamline police investigations, improve efficiency, and enhance transparency in line with new criminal laws.
Key Highlights of the Workshop
1. Introduction to Digital Tools
• E-Sakshya:
Developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), this tool facilitates real-time documentation of crime scenes, including videography, photography, and witness statements. The data is securely stored on an e-evidence server, ensuring quick access for judicial processes.
• E-Summons:
Part of the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS), this platform allows courts to electronically transmit summons to police stations and recipients, reducing delays and ensuring accountability.
• MedLEaPR:
A web-based solution for securely managing Medico-Legal Reports (MLRs) and Post-Mortem Reports (PMRs), ensuring accuracy and efficiency in forensic documentation.
2. Objectives of the Training:
The workshop aimed to equip 250 participants, including Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Station House Officers (SHOs), Investigating Officers (IOs), Tamilies, and CCTNS operators, with the knowledge to:
• Enhance evidence management through digital tools.
• Implement streamlined processes for electronic summons and legal documentation.
• Promote transparency and accountability in investigations.
3. Notable Participation:
The event was formally inaugurated by ADGP Jammu Zone Sh. Anand Jain-IPS, with the presence of other senior officials, including:
• IGP Crime Sh. Sunil Gupta-IPS
• DIG JSK Range Sh. Shiv Kumar Sharma-IPS
• SSP Jammu Sh. Joginder Singh-JKPS
