Jammu Police’s Remarkable Operation “Re-Connect” Recovers 50 Lost Smartphones, Boosts Public Confidence

JAMMU : In a commendable achievement, the Jammu Police successfully recovered 50 lost and stolen smartphones, valued at over ₹15 lakh, as part of their ongoing Operation “Re-Connect.” Conducted over the past six months, this initiative highlights the police’s commitment to addressing citizens’ personal and emotional ties to their mobile devices, which often hold sensitive personal and financial information.
The recovery was spearheaded by the Tech/ESU team of Jammu South Zone Police, comprising PSI Dhanraj Singh, Cr Vishal Sharma, Ct Dharminder Choudhary, and Ct Sheetal Koul. Under the leadership of SP City South, Jammu, Shri Ajay Sharma-JKPS, and overall supervision of SSP Jammu, Shri Joginder Singh-JKPS, the team worked diligently to trace these devices, which had been reported lost across various police stations in South Zone, Jammu.
The recovered smartphones were handed back to their rightful owners, an event marked by the deep gratitude expressed by the recipients. Many lauded the police for safeguarding their private information and restoring valuable assets. Highlighting the operation’s success, SP City South, Shri Ajay Sharma, emphasized the importance of vigilance in handling mobile devices, given their role in storing critical personal data such as photographs, emails, text messages, and financial records.
