JAMMU :In a major breakthrough in the Sumit Jandyal alias Gataru murder case, Jammu Police has apprehended Yudhvir Singh, son of Virdev Singh, a resident of Mandi Sangwali, Samba. The accused was arrested upon his arrival from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, Delhi. This arrest marks a critical development in the high-profile case, which has already led to the detention of multiple individuals.
A Well-Coordinated Police Operation:
The successful arrest was the result of a meticulously planned operation led by a Jammu Police team under Inspector Deepak Pathania (SHO Nowabad & In-Charge SIT), assisted by Inspector Varuneshwar Singh and PSI Anoop Kumar. The operation was carried out under the close supervision of DySP PC and SP Operations Jammu, with overall command by SSP Jammu.
The arrest highlights Jammu Police’s cross-border coordination and surveillance expertise, ensuring that key conspirators are captured regardless of their attempts to evade law enforcement.
The Financial Link: Key to the Conspiracy:
Investigators have uncovered strong evidence pointing to Yudhvir Singh’s financial involvement in orchestrating the murder. According to police sources:
• He was responsible for transferring funds to multiple accounts linked to the accused before the murder.
• These funds were used to purchase an Alto car just a week before the crime—a crucial element in the execution of the murder plot.
• The financial transactions indicate a pre-planned conspiracy rather than a crime of impulse.
These revelations have further strengthened the police’s case against the accused and provided critical leads on the deeper network behind the murder.
A Premeditated Crime That Shocked Jammu:
The brutal murder of Sumit Jandyal, son of Om Prakash, a resident of Ward No. 9, Vijaypur, took place on January 21, 2025. The nature of the crime and the subsequent investigation exposed a deep-rooted conspiracy, suggesting a well-planned and coordinated execution.
The case, registered under FIR No. 14/25 at Police Station Nowabad, includes charges under:
• Sections 103(1), 3(5), 49, 111(2)(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)
• Sections 3/4/25 of the Arms Act
With each arrest, investigators are unraveling more layers of the conspiracy, shedding light on the motive, financial backers, and logistical planning that went into the crime.
The Hunt for More Accused Continues:
With Yudhvir Singh’s arrest, police have now taken 10 accused into custody. However, officials indicate that some key individuals are still under investigation. Tighter surveillance, financial tracking, and intelligence inputs are being used to trace and capture any remaining conspirators.
Sources within the police suggest that further interrogations and forensic financial tracking may soon lead to more arrests and exposure of the larger network involved in the crime.
Jammu Police’s Stand Against Organized Crime:
Jammu Police has once again demonstrated its resolute commitment to cracking down on criminal networks. The fact that an accused fled abroad but was still caught highlights the police’s capability in handling transnational crime and ensuring justice is served.
The ongoing investigation is expected to reveal more critical details in the coming days, providing a clearer picture of the larger conspiracy behind the murder of Sumit Jandyal.
