Jammu : In a high-intensity operation, Jammu Police successfully intercepted two notorious criminals on the Ring Road in Miran Sahib, preventing a potential violent crime. One of the criminals, Daljot Singh alias Daljot Punjabi, a resident of Dashmesh Nagar, Satwari, was injured in retaliatory fire, while his accomplice, Aman Singh alias Anu of Kathua, was apprehended.
Tip-Off Leads to Coordinated Police Operation:
Acting on specific intelligence, the police received inputs that the duo was traveling from Samba to Jammu with arms and ammunition, allegedly to carry out a serious criminal act. In response, a well-coordinated joint operation was launched by SHO PS Miran Sahib JP Sharma and SHO PS Satwari JP Singh. A checkpoint (Naka) was set up on Ring Road, where police teams laid an ambush to intercept the suspects.
Gunfire Erupts on Ring Road:
As the criminals’ Bolero approached the checkpoint, they were signaled to stop. However, instead of complying, they opened fire on the police party, triggering a chase and a gunfight. In self-defense, the police retaliated, injuring Daljot Punjabi. He was immediately taken into custody and shifted to GMC Jammu for medical treatment, while his accomplice Aman Singh was arrested without injury.
Links to Organised Crime Syndicate:
Preliminary investigations have linked the arrested duo to an organized crime syndicate operating in the region. Recently, a firing incident in Phallain Mandal, where miscreants had targeted the vehicle of Arun Chaudhary and later claimed responsibility, raised concerns about rising gang activity. Upon verification, it was revealed that the criminals involved in that incident were part of the same network that police intercepted today.
Weapons Recovered, Hunt for More Suspects Underway:
The police recovered two weapons and a significant cache of ammunition from the crime scene, indicating the criminals’ preparedness for violent action. The investigation is ongoing to identify and track other members of the syndicate.
Legal Proceedings and Further Action:
FIRs have been registered under relevant sections at PS Miran Sahib, and an earlier FIR regarding the Mandal firing incident was already lodged at PS Satwari. The case is being closely monitored under the direct supervision of:
• SSP Jammu Joginder Singh
• SP South Ajay Sharma
• SP HQ Ishrad Hussain Rather
Jammu Police’s Firm Stance Against Crime:
This incident underscores the Jammu Police’s zero-tolerance policy toward criminal activities and organized gangs. Law enforcement agencies have reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order, ensuring that no criminal elements disrupt the peace and security of the region.
With this swift and decisive action, the police have sent a clear message—criminals will not be allowed to operate freely, and strict action will be taken against those who attempt to spread lawlessness.
