Jammu :In a decisive move underscoring its firm stance against criminal activities, Jammu Police – South Zone has apprehended a repeat offender and recovered an illegal firearm, marking another success in its ongoing crackdown on anti-social elements in the region.
Acting on specific inputs and maintaining a high state of vigilance, a team led by PSI Karnail Singh of the Police Post Chatha successfully arrested Jatinder Singh alias Kala, son of Sardar Gurbaksh Singh, a resident of Village Chatha, Jammu. The operation was conducted under the supervision of SHO Police Station Satwari, Inspector Jai Pal Singh, SDPO Gandhi Nagar Shri Sunil Singh Jasrotia, SP South Shri Ajay Sharma (JKPS), and the overall supervision of SSP Jammu, Shri Joginder Singh (JKPS).
Illegal Firearm Seized:
During the operation, the accused was found in possession of a country-made pistol (Desi Katta) and one live cartridge. This recovery further substantiates law enforcement concerns about the accused’s continuing involvement in unlawful and dangerous activities.
Background: A History of Violence
What raises greater alarm is the criminal history of the arrested individual. Jatinder Singh alias Kala was previously involved in a murder case registered under FIR No. 24/2010 U/S 302 RPC at Police Station Bahu Fort. After being incarcerated for years, he had recently been released on bail, indicating a potential lapse in rehabilitation or monitoring of released convicts.
The current incident has led to the registration of a fresh FIR No. 129/2025 under Section 3/25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Satwari, and the accused has been remanded into police custody. Investigations are underway to determine if the recovered weapon was intended for any planned criminal activity and whether the accused has connections with broader criminal networks.
Police Commitment and Public Assurance:
The Jammu Police has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards crime, assuring the public that such elements will not be allowed to disrupt peace and security. The swift and coordinated response by the South Zone team highlights the department’s commitment to proactive policing and community safety.
Senior police officials have called on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, emphasizing that community cooperation is vital in maintaining law and order.
This arrest reflects the alertness, professionalism, and readiness of the Jammu Police in tackling both new and repeat offenders. With strong legal action initiated and further investigations ongoing, the force continues to send a strong message to criminal elements: unlawful behavior will not be tolerated.
