Jammu Administration Gears Up for Safe and Smooth Celebrations of Holi, Eid, and Navratras

Jammu : As the festival season approaches, the Jammu divisional administration is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the smooth and secure celebration of Holi, Eid, and Navratras across the region. A high-level review meeting was convened by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu, Bhim Sen Tuti, to assess district-wise preparations and address potential challenges.
Attended by Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), Deputy Commissioners (DCs), Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), and other officials, the meeting focused on security arrangements, traffic management, essential services, and community engagement to facilitate festive celebrations without disruptions.
Key Focus Areas of the Meeting
1. Security & Law Enforcement:
• The administration is prioritizing law and order maintenance, with additional police and paramilitary personnel deployed at sensitive locations.
• SSPs and DIGs were directed to remain on the ground and conduct real-time monitoring during the festivals.
• Specific vulnerable zones have been identified, where heightened security will be maintained to prevent any communal tension or mischief.
• Strict action will be taken against anti-social elements and rumor-mongers to ensure peace and harmony.
2. Traffic & Procession Management:
• Special attention is being given to crowd control and traffic flow, especially in areas where large gatherings and religious processions are expected.
• Police have been directed to regulate vehicular movement, particularly around temples, mosques, and public squares.
• The IGP emphasized the need for a strict crackdown on reckless two-wheeler riders, especially during Holi, to avoid accidents and public nuisance.
• Alternate routes and traffic diversions will be planned in key areas to prevent congestion.
3. Essential Services & Public Conveniences:
• The power and water supply departments have been directed to ensure uninterrupted services, particularly in high-footfall areas.
• Local municipalities have been asked to conduct special sanitation and cleanliness drives around temples, mosques, markets, and public spaces.
• Emergency services, including medical teams and ambulances, will be on standby in case of any untoward incidents.
4. Market Regulation & Consumer Protection:
• To prevent price gouging and hoarding of essential commodities, special market inspections will be carried out.
• Authorities will take strict action against those indulging in overpricing, black marketing, and food adulteration.
• The administration will issue advisories to shopkeepers and vendors to ensure ethical business practices during the festive rush.
5. Public Awareness & Community Involvement:
• Awareness drives will be conducted to encourage responsible celebrations, particularly regarding the safe use of colors during Holi and adherence to noise pollution regulations during Navratras and Eid prayers.
• Religious and community leaders will be engaged to promote communal harmony and interfaith dialogue, reinforcing the spirit of unity in diversity.
• The administration has urged citizens to cooperate with authorities, respect religious sentiments, and report any suspicious activity.
