Jammu Administration and Police Conduct Comprehensive Review During RS Pura Subdivision Visit

JAMMU : In a significant move to address development and security concerns in the RS Pura subdivision, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jammu, Sh. Sachin Vaishya (IAS), and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Sh. Joginder Singh (JKPS), conducted a joint visit to the region. Accompanied by the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Jammu Sher Singh and SP Headquarters Jammu, the officials focused on key challenges, particularly in the border villages.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) RS Pura, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) RS Pura, and other local officers, including the CPDO, Tehsildar, and Block Medical Officer (BMO) of RS Pura.
Key Highlights of the Visit
1. Tackling Land Mafia and Mischief Mongers:
The officials emphasized identifying and curbing activities of land mafia and disruptive elements in the region. Preventive measures, including detentions under the *BNSS Act*, were prioritized to maintain public order and protect the rights of local residents.
2. Joint Border Development Initiatives:
Recognizing the unique challenges of border residents, the DC and SSP planned infrastructure improvements, including the construction of pulleys, culverts, and road enhancements. Special transportation arrangements for school-going children were also discussed to ease their daily commute.
3. Engagement with Border Communities:
In a meeting held at Samka village, the administration interacted with sarpanches, panches, and prominent citizens to understand and address local grievances. The session focused on participatory governance and community-driven solutions.
4. Security Assessment at Border Out Post (BOP) Mangral:
The delegation inspected the security setup at BOP Mangral and engaged with BSF personnel. They reviewed the existing security measures, ensuring robust preparedness against any threats in the sensitive border area.
5. Inspection of Juvenile and Women’s Support Facilities:
The team visited Bal-Ashram and the Observation/Juvenile Home in RS Pura, reviewing facilities for destitute children, women, and juveniles. They ensured adequate support for residents and inspected the functioning of the women’s helpline and child helpline services operating from the same premises.
6. Republic Day Preparations and Coordination:
The administration emphasized strengthening coordination among the BSF, police, and civil authorities for smooth operations and successful Republic Day celebrations on January 26.
Reaffirming their commitment to tackling drug abuse, the officials stressed regular NCORD (Narcotics Coordination) meetings and awareness campaigns. The administration pledged to adopt proactive measures to curb the drug menace in the region.
The visit highlighted a multi-pronged strategy to ensure:
