Historical Tour to Lamayuru and Wanla Monastery by EJM College Students
The Department of History, Eliezer Joldan Memorial College, Leh, organized a historical tour for students of the BG 3rd and 5th semesters on October 4, 2024. The tour was led by Assistant Professor Kunzang Lhamo and the educational excursion aimed to provide students with a deeper understanding of the monasteriesโ historical, architectural, and spiritual importance in the region.
During the tour, the students visited the significant monasteries of Lamayuru and Wanla. Dr. Tashi Dorjey from the Philosophy Department of EJM College served as the resource person for the day. His insightful commentary covered the origins of the monasteries, their unique landscape, and the intricate architecture, offering students a comprehensive overview of Buddhist philosophy and teachings.
In addition to the monastery visits, the group explored the hot spring at Sheela Valley, known for its medicinal properties and natural beauty. The trip allowed students to appreciate the natural and cultural richness of the region.
