Gunfire in Langotian: Criminal Shoots at Police, One Injured in Jammu

JAMMU: In a shocking incident in Langotian, Chak Alawal, a firing took place, leaving one person injured. The victim, Paramjeet Kumar alias Jungi (32), son of Devi Dass, a resident of Dhrapta, R.S. Pura, sustained a firearm injury at Kotli Mian Fateh, Miran Sahib and was rushed to GMC Jammu for treatment.
Police’s Brave Chase and Criminal’s Background:
Displaying remarkable courage, SHO Miran Sahib, Jai Paul Sharma, known for his determination, led a chase to apprehend the armed assailant. However, in a dramatic turn of events, the criminal—who has a history of violent offenses—opened fire on the police party.
The accused is a notorious criminal with multiple FIRs registered across various police stations, including Satwari, R.S. Pura, Bishnah, and Miran Sahib. He had previously been booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in 2018 and again in 2023. His criminal record includes involvement in serious offenses, with cases registered under various IPC sections and the Arms Act.

The accused has a long history of criminal activities, with the following FIRs registered against him:

Additionally, FIR No. 87/2023, which pertains to an incident on June 1, 2023, involving charges under Sections 458/323/382 IPC and 4/25 Arms Act, is still under investigation.
