Khaltsi, 08 May 2025: GDC Khaltse, in collaboration with Mission Shakti Leh, organized an awareness camp on sexual harassment of women at the workplace, held at the college campus. The program aimed to inform students and staff about relevant laws, rules, and regulations concerning workplace sexual harassment.

Mission Shakti, dedicated to women’s empowerment in Ladakh, conducts workshops, training, and awareness sessions on critical issues such as workplace sexual harassment, health, and hygiene. Ms. Deachen Angmo, Gender Specialist at Mission Shakti Leh, delivered an in-depth presentation on Mission Shakti and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013. She discussed the law’s mechanisms and emphasized the importance of a robust Internal Committee, recommending diverse membership, including individuals from varied genders and experts from fields like law, as well as external members.

Ms. Diskit Ladol, District Coordinator of Mission Shakti Leh, addressed health and hygiene, focusing on the benefits of silicon menstrual cups. Female students and staff received silicon menstrual cups distributed by Mission Shakti representatives.

The event was conducted by Ms. Deachen Angmo, Assistant Professor of Environmental Science and a member of the college’s Internal Committee. Professor Stanzin Yangdol, Principal of GDC Khaltse, concluded the program with a formal vote of thanks, expressing deep appreciation to the Mission Shakti team for their impactful initiative.
