Earlier They Asked For Proofs, Now They Are Asking Why We Stopped Operation Sindoor: PM Modi Slams Congress
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday criticised the Congress during a debate in the Lok Sabha, saying that the Opposition party had undermined the morale of the armed forces and questioned the timing and intent of counter-terror operations.
Responding to criticism of Operation Sindoor, PM Modi said the Congress had a history of doubting the armed forces. “One Congress leader said we did three surgical strikes, another said six, then nine, then fifteen. The number kept rising depending on the leader’s seniority,” the Prime Minister said.
Referring to the 2019 Balakot air strike, PM Modi said some Opposition leaders had reacted in a way that, according to him, boosted Pakistan’s morale. “When our pilot Abhinandan was captured, Pakistan was obviously pleased. But here too, some Congress leaders thought ‘Modi is finished’. Still, Abhinandan returned safely,” he said.
On Operation Mahadev, which targeted those involved in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, the PM said: “Even after the successful operation, Congress leaders are questioning its timing.” The strike was carried out on June 28, coinciding with the Parliament debate on Operation Sindoor.
The PM said the same leaders who earlier asked for proof of cross-border strikes were now questioning why Operation Sindoor was stopped. “The entire country is watching and laughing,” he said.
PM Modi also referred to a failed drone attack by Pakistan on May 9 and said India’s security forces had demonstrated strong defence capability. “Despite global appreciation, it is unfortunate that Congress could not support the bravery of our soldiers,” he said.
The Prime Minister said the Congress had failed to trust key institutions. “They ruled the country for decades but didn’t trust the Home Minister, the Foreign Minister, or the Defence Minister. Their trust, it seems, changes with Pakistan’s remote control,” he remarked.
