Jammu: In preparation for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra 2024, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, visited Lakhanpur, the main entry point to Jammu and Kashmir, to review the arrangements. This visit follows an earlier inspection at Yatri Niwas in Jammu, marking the administration’s commitment to ensuring seamless and secure arrangements for the pilgrimage.

Importance of Lakhanpur

Lakhanpur, often referred to as the gateway to Jammu and Kashmir, is a critical juncture for the Amarnath Yatra. As the primary entry point for pilgrims coming from different parts of the country, it is essential that all necessary facilities are in place to accommodate the influx of devotees. Review of Arrangements

During the visit, Div Com Ramesh Kumar was accompanied by SSP Traffic Rural Vinay Khullar ,Additional SP Kathua Paramjeet Singh, Project Director NHAI and the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kathua Rakesh Minhas IAS . They collectively inspected the various facilities and measures put in place to handle the anticipated large number of pilgrims.

Key Areas of Focus

Security Arrangements:Ensuring robust security measures to safeguard pilgrims was a top priority. This includes checking points, surveillance systems, and deployment of adequate police forces.

Health Facilities:Arrangements for medical aid and emergency response were reviewed to handle any health-related incidents during the Yatra.

Logistics and Accommodation:Inspection of lodging facilities, food provisions, and sanitation services to ensure a comfortable stay for the pilgrims.

Traffic Management:Plans for managing the vehicular traffic, ensuring smooth entry and exit, and avoiding congestion were discussed.
