JAMMU : As preparations gear up for the upcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra-2025, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone Bhim Sen Tuti jointly chaired a pivotal review meeting to assess and accelerate the logistical and security arrangements for the revered annual pilgrimage.
The meeting brought together a wide range of stakeholders including senior officials from district administrations, civil and police departments, CAPFs, Traffic Police, NHAI, Telecom authorities, Health Services, Transport and Information Departments, and municipal bodies. The cross-departmental presence signaled the administration’s intent to adopt a holistic and coordinated approach to managing one of the largest religious pilgrimages in the country.
Key Focus Areas Discussed:

A major highlight of the meeting was the strategy for early installation of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) counters and Yatri Registration Centers at critical entry points including Lakhanpur, Samba, Jammu, Udhampur, and Ramban.
• The Div Com directed all concerned DCs to begin the setup process immediately and ensure that RFID tagging is seamlessly integrated with the registration process.
• Training modules for the staff manning these counters must be finalized and implemented on a priority basis, he said.
• RFID will serve as the backbone of pilgrim tracking, route planning, and emergency response coordination.

Security remains paramount, given the terrain and the sensitivity of the pilgrimage.
• The IGP Jammu emphasized multi-layered security grids, combining the efforts of local police, CRPF, and other central forces, especially in vulnerable zones along the National Highway and base camps.
• Deployment of CCTV cameras, drones, and quick response teams was discussed as part of a broader surveillance strategy.
• Night patrolling and area domination exercises are to be intensified closer to the start date.

Smooth movement of yatris is critical, especially in the monsoon-prone region between Jammu and Baltal/Pahalgam.
• NHAI was instructed to complete all pending blacktop work, landslide-prone reinforcement, and signage installation well before the Yatra.
• Traffic Police will issue a revised movement plan including holding areas, checkpoints, and alternate routes in case of emergencies.
• Special focus is to be placed on the Ramban-Banihal sector, which is often disrupted during inclement weather.

Maintaining uninterrupted communication is vital.
• Telecom service providers were told to ensure strong mobile signal coverage along the Yatra route, with temporary towers in shadow areas.
• Plans to integrate emergency SMS alerts, weather updates, and helpline integration with RFID are under consideration.
Public Facilities and Welfare Services:

• Health officials were asked to ensure availability of doctors, ambulances, oxygen cylinders, and emergency medication kits at key points.
• Establishment of mobile health units and first-aid posts is to be completed within the next month.

• Commissioner JMC and concerned municipal authorities were directed to ensure high sanitation standards, toilet facilities, and waste disposal systems.
• Daily cleanliness drives and mobile maintenance teams will be deployed.

• District Administrations are coordinating with NGOs and local communities to set up shelter sheds, community kitchens (langars), and water supply stations.
• Strict hygiene protocols will be implemented at langar sites.
Administrative Oversight and Monitoring
• All Deputy Commissioners were instructed to set up District Control Rooms for real-time monitoring and grievance redressal.
• Weekly progress reports will be reviewed at the divisional level, and another high-level review meeting is scheduled within a fortnight.
With a proactive approach and strong inter-agency coordination, the Jammu Division is on course to ensure that Shri Amarnathji Yatra-2025 is conducted in a safe, organized, and spiritually enriching manner. The early start to planning reflects the administration’s commitment to improve upon past challenges and deliver a seamless experience to lakhs of pilgrims.
Further on-ground inspections and simulation drills are expected in the coming weeks to validate preparedness and streamline response mechanisms.
