Director, S&TW holds CWC Leh review meeting
Leh, 18th April 2025 – A review meeting of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Leh was convened by Director, Social and Tribal Welfare Department, UT Ladakh, Tashi Dolma in Leh today.
The meeting discussed cases and progress related to child welfare along with strengthening collaboration and ensuring effective implementation of child protection initiatives in the district.
During the meeting, CWC Leh, presented an overview of the cases received, including child protection cases, adoption and foster care cases & cases related to child labor and trafficking etc. The committee also discussed the progress of various cases, highlighting the challenges faced by the CWC in handling cases, success stories and best practices and deliberated on areas requiring improvement and support.
The Director, Directorate of Social and Tribal Welfare emphasized the importance of providing timely and effective support to vulnerable children. She also reiterated the need of awareness about the work and mandate of CWC in the different nooks and corner of the region to overcome and resolve any issues related to children in need of care and protection.
The meeting concluded with actionable recommendations to enhance the capacity of the CWC, Leh to improve case management and follow-up and increase community awareness about child welfare services.
The meeting was attended by Chairperson, CWC Leh, Mumtaz Hussain; CWC Members Tashi Dolma and Tsering Angchuk; Program Manager, State Child Protection Society, Mission Vatsalya, Abdul Rahim and Program Manager, State Adoption Resource Agency, Mission Vatsalya, Sonam Chosdon.
