DIG JSK Range Visits Family of Martyr HC Bashir Ahmed, Pays Tribute to His Supreme Sacrifice

Jammu: In a poignant gesture to honor the courage and sacrifice of Martyr Head Constable Bashir Ahmed, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, along with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua, Shobit Saxena, and other high-ranking officers visited the residence of the late martyr in Channi Himmat, Jammu. Bashir Ahmed laid down his life during an intense encounter with terrorists in the Kog Mandli area of Billawar, Kathua.
Accompanying the DIG were SP Operations Billawar, Aumer, SDPO East Jammu, Sheezan Bhat, and SHO Channi Himmat, Mohd. Sadiq, who met with the bereaved family members, offering condolences and words of support. During his visit, DIG Sharma lauded the bravery of the slain head constable, remarking that his sacrifice would be etched in the annals of J&K Police history and serve as a lasting inspiration for future generations.
Martyr Head Constable Bashir Ahmed was a brave and dedicated officer. His supreme sacrifice will not go in vain, and the J&K Police will ensure that his martyrdom becomes a beacon of courage for generations to come. We will always stand by the family of our brave soldier, providing them with every possible support,” said DIG Shiv Kumar Sharma.
The officers offered their assurances to Bashir Ahmed’s family that the department would continue to extend assistance in every way possible. Visit to Injured Officer ASI Niaz at Military Hospital:
Following the visit to the martyr’s family, DIG JSK Range proceeded to the Military Hospital (MH) Satwari, where Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Niaz, who sustained injuries during the same encounter, is undergoing treatment. DIG Sharma inquired about ASI Niaz’s well-being, expressing gratitude for his service and bravery during the operation.
Praising ASI Niaz’s resilience, DIG Sharma stated, “I am proud that we have such valiant officers in the J&K Police force. Your courage and commitment to duty are commendable, and we are always here to support you in every difficult moment.”
The DIG assured ASI Niaz of all necessary assistance for his speedy recovery and reiterated the department’s resolve to stand by its personnel in times of adversity. The visit was a testament to the solidarity and camaraderie within the police force, reflecting a deep appreciation for the sacrifices and contributions of its members.
Billawar Encounter: A Recap
The Billawar encounter took place in the Kog Mandli area of Kathua district, where J&K Police personnel, along with security forces, engaged with heavily armed terrorists. The encounter resulted in the elimination of the terrorists, but the forces suffered casualties, including the tragic loss of Head Constable Bashir Ahmed and injuries to ASI Niaz.
