Kathua/ Samba/Jammu:As the region gears up for the forthcoming Assembly Elections amidst heightened security concerns, DIG JKS Range Shiv Kumar IPS conducted a late-night surprise inspection of critical border areas in Kathua, Samba, and Jammu. The inspection aimed to assess the readiness of security forces and to ensure the safety of both the local population and the high-profile Narsingh Temple, which has been witnessing a heavy influx of devotees.
During the tour, DIG Shiv Kumar visited several strategic locations, including Hiranagar and Londi More, where he interacted with SHO Inspector Arun Koul and Border Police Post (BPP) officials. These discussions focused on the operational challenges faced by the police in these sensitive border areas, including the history of security incidents and the use of old routes that have been points of concern in the past.
A significant part of the inspection involved a visit to the Border Outpost (BOP) Chak Dulma, where DIG Shiv Kumar met with BSF officials. The interaction underscored the importance of coordination between the police and BSF in maintaining border security, particularly in light of the increased threats from across the border.
Further, the inspection extended to BPP Rajpura, where the ongoing security measures were reviewed in detail. SHO Samba, Inspector Sikandar Singh, briefed the DIG on the current state of border policing, emphasizing the preparedness of the forces to tackle any potential threats during the election period.
Later in the inspection, DIG Shiv Kumar conducted a thorough review of the security arrangements at the Narsingh Temple, given the large number of devotees visiting the site. The temple’s proximity to the border area necessitates robust security, and the DIG’s inspection was aimed at ensuring all measures were in place to prevent any untoward incidents.
SSP Vinay Kumar, who accompanied the DIG throughout the inspection, provided a comprehensive overview of the security arrangements in place across the region. His briefing included the specific preparations being undertaken for the upcoming elections, ensuring that all possible security scenarios are being addressed proactively.
This late-night inspection reflects the administration’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the border districts, especially during a time of heightened security alert and political activity. The visit not only reinforced the importance of vigilance among the security forces but also served as a confidence booster for the local populace ahead of the elections.
The security forces in these regions continue to remain on high alert, with regular checks and coordination meetings being held to ensure seamless operations and the safety of the people.
