DIG and SSP Address Press Conference on National Highway Traffic Enforcement.

UDHAMPUR: Today, DIG Traffic Jammu Zone, Dr. Mohd Haseeb Mughal IPS, along with SSP National Highway Traffic Rohit Baksotra and DySP National Highway Traffic Udhampur, Jatinder Singh, held a crucial press conference highlighting the robust enforcement measures and ongoing initiatives by the National Highway traffic police.
From January 1 to May 31, 2024, the National Highway traffic police have taken stringent action, booking 38,350 violators and imposing fines amounting to Rs 3.8 Crore. They have also seized 53 vehicles and filed 29 FIRs for overloading violations, underscoring their commitment to road safety and traffic discipline.
During the conference, DIG Dr. Mohd Haseeb Mughal updated the media on the identification of 21 critical spots prone to congestion and traffic jams. He reported that traffic police, in collaboration with other teams, have successfully cleared 16 of these spots to ensure smooth traffic flow. Efforts are underway to address the remaining areas, with collaboration from National Highway Authority officials to enhance traffic management.
SSP Rohit Baksotra reiterated the National Highway traffic police’s unwavering dedication to enforcing traffic regulations strictly. He emphasized their zero-tolerance policy towards violators, ensuring public safety and reducing road incidents.
DySP Jatinder Singh provided insights into local efforts in Udhampur, highlighting proactive measures to manage traffic effectively on the highway. He assured ongoing efforts to improve traffic flow and safety measures as preparations intensify for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.
The press conference concluded with a reaffirmation of the National Highway traffic police’s commitment to upholding traffic laws and ensuring a safe travel environment for all road users. Authorities remain vigilant as they prepare for the challenges posed by the Amarnath Yatra, pledging to maintain order on the national highways and enhance the overall traffic experience.
