CRIME BRANCH EOW JAMMU ACHIEVES RECORD DISPOSAL OF ECONOMIC OFFENCE CASES IN 2025
₹20 crore involved in charge-sheeted cases; 67 new FIRs registered, 1,186 complaints resolved

Jammu :The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Jammu of Crime Branch J&K has achieved a historic milestone in 2025 by disposing of a record number of economic offence cases and complaints, marking its most productive year in the last 25 years.
During the year, EOW Jammu registered 67 new FIRs, the highest ever for the Wing, involving serious and complex economic offences. The cases charge-sheeted before Hon’ble Courts during the year involved a monetary value of approximately ₹20 crore, reflecting the scale and impact of the investigations carried out by the agency.
As part of enforcement action, 22 accused persons were arrested in different FIRs. Multiple teams of EOW Jammu were deputed across the Jammu zone and other states of India for search and arrest operations. The investigations involved detailed examination of documentary and digital evidence and required sustained coordination with government departments, banks, and other financial institutions.
In addition to FIR-based investigations, the Wing played a significant role in public grievance redressal. A total of 1,186 complaints were disposed of during 2025 after careful assessment on factual and legal grounds, providing timely relief to aggrieved citizens and preventing escalation of disputes.
Throughout the year, EOW Jammu investigated a wide spectrum of economic offences, including land frauds, impersonation, cheating, forgery, visa frauds, illegal job consultancy scams, misappropriation of government funds, and misuse of official position by public servants. Special emphasis was laid on identifying and dismantling organized networks of land brokers, habitual offenders, and professional fraudsters operating in the Jammu zone.
To strengthen investigations, Photo Sections of EOW Jammu, established in various districts of the Jammu zone, provided crucial forensic support. These units covered 3,599 crime scenes related to different categories of cases registered at police stations across the region, ensuring effective documentation of evidence.
Working under the guidance and supervision of IGP Sujit Kumar IPS J&K, the Economic Offences Wing also undertook awareness initiatives to educate the public about new criminal laws and preventive measures against economic crimes.
EOW Jammu expressed gratitude to various government departments, financial institutions, banks, and private sector organizations for their continued cooperation and timely sharing of information, which played a key role in the effective disposal of cases.
Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding public interest, EOW Jammu urged citizens to remain vigilant and promptly report economic offences, emphasizing that public cooperation is vital for maintaining a transparent and secure economic environment in Jammu and Kashmir.
