‘I want to win the 2027 World Cup’: Rohit Sharma
India skipper Rohit Sharma opened up about his future plans with the ‘Men in Blue’, expressing his desire to win the next ICC ODI World Cup in 2027, slated to take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. Talking about the ODI World Cup 2023 final in which they lost to Australia. He said that we didn’t play bad cricket in the final, it was Men in Yellow who played slightly better than India. “50-over World Cup for me is the actual World Cup. We have grown up watching it. Moreover, it was happening in India in front of our fans. We played so well until that final”, the Indian captain said. “When we won the semifinal, I thought we were just a step away, we were doing everything right. Not a single thing that could make us lose came to my mind. We ticked all the boxes and played good cricket. Confidence was there. I guess we were supposed to have that one bad day and that turned out to be the final. I don’t think we played bad cricket in the final, certain things didn’t go our way. But they were slightly better than us,” the Mumbai Indians player concluded. Rohit talked about his future plans with the ‘Men in Blue’ and said that he wanted to win the upcoming ODI World Cup 2027. “I am still playing well. So I am thinking of continuing for a few more years. I really want to win that WC (50-over). There is a WTC final at Lord’s in 2025. Hopefully, we make it there,” he concluded. Rohit is currently playing in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The veteran batter has managed to score 156 runs in the five matches he has played so far in the IPL 2024, at an average of 31.20. The right-hand batter asserted that IPL has become competitive over the years and there is no weak team in the competions as anyone can beat anyone. “IPL has grown to be so competitive over the years. There is no weak team. Anyone can beat anyone. It was not the case when it started. But there is so much technology available now. Franchises know what holes they have to fill and they do it during the auction,” Rohit said on the show ‘Breakfast with Champions’.

The central government has issued a notification giving effect to the provisions of the new postal law, the Post Office Act, 2023, from June 18. According to a Ministry of Communications release, “The Post Office Act, 2023,” vide notification dated June 17, 2024, comes into force with effect from June 18, 2024, and repeals the Indian Post Office Act, 1898.” “The Post Office Bill, 2023” was introduced in Rajya Sabha on August 10, 2023, and passed in Rajya Sabha on December 4, 2023. The bill was then considered and passed by the Lok Sabha on December 12 and 18, 2023. The Act received the assent of the President of India on December 24, 2023, and was published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 1, dated December 24, 2023, by the Ministry of Law & Justice (Legislative Department) for general information. The Act aims to create a simple legislative framework, for the delivery of citizen-centric services and the benefits of government schemes up to the last mile, enhancing ease of living. The exclusive privilege of collecting, processing, and delivering of letters granted to the Post Office previously, has been discontinued. In order to promote “maximum governance and minimum government,” no penal provisions have been prescribed in the Post Office Act, 2023, which comes into force today. The newly enacted postal law provides a framework for prescribing standards for the addressing of items, address identifiers, and usage of postcodes.
