Hathras,Uttar Pradesh: In a devastating incident on Tuesday, twenty-seven people lost their lives in a stampede at ‘satsang’ (religious event) in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. The tragic event took place in the village of Ratibhanpur, drawing a large crowd of devotees.
According to Umesh Kumar Tripathi, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), “27 bodies have arrived at the post-mortem house so far, including 25 women and two men. Many injured have also been admitted.” The scale of the disaster has left the community in shock, with many questioning the crowd management and safety measures at the event.
The satsang, a common religious gathering in India, turned deadly as the crowd surged, causing a chaotic stampede. Authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the stampede and assessing the safety protocols that were in place.
