In a scathing attack on National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, who also oversees J&K and Ladakh for the party, criticized Abdullah’s recent call for dialogue with Pakistan. Chugh’s comments come amid heightened tensions due to continued instances of cross-border terrorism orchestrated by Pakistan in Jammu & Kashmir.
Chugh accused Abdullah of resembling a spokesperson for Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) rather than prioritizing India’s interests. He strongly condemned Abdullah’s suggestion for peace talks with Pakistan, emphasizing that the Modi government’s primary focus remains on countering and dismantling Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.
“At a time when Pakistan is actively sending organized groups of terrorists into J&K to escalate violence, Farooq Abdullah’s advocacy for dialogue with Pakistan is deeply regrettable,” stated Chugh. He asserted that Abdullah should direct his efforts towards urging Pakistan to cease its terrorist activities instead of advocating for talks.
Chugh further criticized the Abdullah family, alleging a consistent alignment with Pakistan’s agenda over the welfare and development of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. He underscored that at a time when tourism is flourishing in the region, Pakistan’s role in promoting terrorism should be vehemently condemned.
The BJP leader concluded by urging Abdullah to prioritize India’s national interests and to cease behaving like a spokesperson for Pakistan’s ISI. He emphasized that any dialogue with Pakistan should only occur once Pakistan ceases its cross-border terrorism activities.
This criticism from Tarun Chugh highlights the ongoing political tensions and security concerns in the region, as well as the BJP’s stance on dealing with Pakistan amidst continued acts of terrorism.
