Anantnag-Rajouri Campaign Ends Amid Security Measures
Battle for Anantnag-Rajouri:
Campaigns Conclude Amid High Security, Voters Prepare for Crucial Poll.
Anantnag: The fervent campaigning for the hotly contested Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat came to a dramatic close on Thursday. Candidates made their final pitches to sway voters across the diverse constituency spanning South Kashmir and the Pir Panjal region. Authorities have ramped up security measures to ensure a smooth and peaceful electoral process as the pivotal polls on May 25 draw near.
Strict Security Measures Enforced: Stringent prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC have been enacted from 6 pm on May 23 until the end of polling on May 25. These restrictions aim to maintain law and order, banning unlawful assemblies, processions, rallies, and public meetings related to the elections.
Electrifying Campaigns Energize Constituency: The announcement of the Lok Sabha polls injected new life into the political scene of the trans-Pir Panjal constituency. Political parties and their candidates embarked on a whirlwind of rallies, roadshows, and conventions to connect with the electorate and present their vision for the future.
Election Machinery in Full Swing: Robust control rooms have been established at the Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) offices in Srinagar and Jammu. Operational round-the-clock, these control hubs monitor electronic media channels and social media platforms for violations. Live feeds from 100% of polling stations and GPS tracking for all vehicles used by poll parties ensure a fair and efficient election process.
Special Provisions for Migrant Voters: Special polling stations have been set up to facilitate voting by migrant voters from the Kashmir division, in line with ECI directives. A total of 26 special polling stations have been established in Jammu, Delhi, and Udhampur district. Detailed voter lists managed by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) ensure every eligible voter has the opportunity to cast their ballot.
A Call to Participate: The ECI’s communiqué highlighted its commitment to providing essential facilities at all polling stations, calling upon voters to participate in large numbers and celebrate the “biggest festival of the largest democracy in the world.” This appeal resonates with the core values of democratic participation and civic responsibility.
As Anantnag-Rajouri prepares for this critical electoral showdown, the anticipation is palpable. The outcome of these polls will shape the political landscape of the region and reflect the democratic will of its people. With heightened security, extensive preparations, and an engaged electorate, the stage is set for a significant democratic exercise on May 25.
