Anantnag: In a decisive action against unlawful activities in Jammu and Kashmir, the Anantnag Police attached a double-storied residential property worth ₹5 crores under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967. The property, owned by Firdous Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Hugam Lonepora in Srigufwara, is situated on 1 kanal and 10 marlas of land (Survey No. 5419/561 Min).
The attachment is linked to Case FIR No. 57/2024, registered at the Mattan Police Station. The operation was conducted in the presence of a legally mandated team comprising the Executive Magistrate and police officials, ensuring adherence to all procedural requirements. The action reflects a robust implementation of Section 25 of the UAPA, which empowers authorities to attach properties associated with individuals involved in terrorism-related activities.
The Anantnag Police’s move underscores its commitment to combating terrorism and dismantling networks that pose a threat to national security. By targeting the economic resources of individuals linked to unlawful and subversive activities, law enforcement agencies aim to weaken the operational capabilities of such elements.
This development comes amidst heightened efforts by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir to curb activities undermining sovereignty and public order. Collaboration between local police and other security agencies has been pivotal in identifying and neutralizing threats. The attachment of Firdous Ahmad Bhat’s property is seen as a critical step in sending a strong message to those who support or participate in activities detrimental to peace and stability in the region.
Officials have reiterated their resolve to take stringent actions under the law to ensure national integrity, urging citizens to cooperate and provide information on any suspicious activities.
