GANDERBAL: In a concerted effort to ensure a seamless and joyous celebration of the revered Kheer Bhawani Mela, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo visited the Kheer Bhawani Temple in Tulamulla this evening. His visit aimed at meticulously reviewing the arrangements for the upcoming annual mela, set to take place on June 14th.
Accompanied by an entourage of high-ranking officials, including Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Inspector General of Police VK Birdi, Deputy Inspector General, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, SSP Ganderbal, and other senior officers from both the Civil Administration and the Police Department, the Chief Secretary conducted a thorough inspection of the facilities.
Meticulous Arrangements for a Smooth Celebration…
During the visit, Chief Secretary Dulloo emphasized the critical need for inter-departmental coordination to facilitate a flawless and memorable experience for the pilgrims. He meticulously evaluated the existing facilities and identified additional requirements to ensure the event proceeds without any hitches.
The Chief Secretary expressed satisfaction upon being assured that comprehensive arrangements have been implemented. These arrangements encompass transportation, accommodation, power supply, water provision, sanitation, medical aid, and stringent security measures, all designed to offer a hassle-free experience for the devotees.

A significant aspect of the preparations includes ensuring comfortable accommodation for pilgrims. The Chief Secretary was informed that specific amenities have been established to provide a comfortable night stay both at the shrine and at the Central University Kashmir (CUK). Furthermore, a langer facility will be available at both locations to cater to the needs of the visitors.
Satisfied with the overall preparations, Chief Secretary Dulloo directed officers to address any remaining requirements promptly, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to providing a seamless and enriching experience for all devotees.

Parallel to these arrangements, Inspector General of Police Kashmir, VK Birdi, reviewed the security protocols ahead of the Mela and the Shri Amarnath Yatra. In a meeting held at PCR Srinagar, which saw the attendance of Range DIGs, District SSPs, and other senior officers of PCR Kashmir, a comprehensive security plan was discussed to ensure the peaceful conduct of all upcoming events in the region.
During the meeting, the district Police chiefs provided a detailed briefing on the overall security scenario and the specific preparations in place for the Kheer Bhawani Mela. The officers elaborated on the meticulously planned security measures, covering law and order, crowd management, traffic control, and the overall safety of the devotees. Security arrangements for the peaceful observance of the upcoming Eid-Ul-Adha were also discussed extensively.
Vigilance and Surveillance…
IGP Birdi directed officers to maintain strict surveillance over anti-social and anti-national elements using advanced technologies such as drones and CCTVs. He also mandated the establishment of round-the-clock checkpoints to ensure heightened security. Additionally, he stressed the importance of enhancing the anti-militancy grid by generating specific intelligence and intensifying CASOs (cordon and search operations) and anti-militancy operations across all districts.
