In a proactive measure to bolster security along the sensitive Samba-Kathua border, DIG Jammu-Kathua-Samba (JKS) Range, Shiv Kumar IPS, conducted an intensive patrolling operation, accompanied by SSP Samba, Vinay Kumar, DSP Headquarters, DSP Operations, and SHO Samba. This operation comes in the wake of intelligence inputs suggesting potential threats in the region, necessitating a heightened state of vigilance.
The patrol covered key areas along the Samba-Kathua border, a region known for its strategic importance due to its proximity to the international border with Pakistan. The DIG and his team focused on area domination, a crucial tactic to assert control and prevent infiltration or any untoward incidents. The patrols also aimed at reassuring the local populace and demonstrating the presence of security forces to deter any hostile activities.
During the patrolling, DIG Shiv Kumar and SSP Vinay Kumar interacted with the residents of the border areas. This engagement was not only a means to gather intelligence from the ground but also to address the concerns of the local community, who often find themselves on the frontline of cross-border tensions. The officers assured the residents of their safety and the continuous efforts being made to ensure peace and security in the region.
In addition to interacting with the local population, the DIG and SSP visited various Border Out Posts (BOPs) where they met with officials from the Border Security Force (BSF). These meetings were crucial for coordinating efforts between the J&K Police and the BSF, ensuring that both forces are synchronized in their operations to prevent any infiltration attempts and to respond effectively to any security breaches.
The patrolling operation is part of a broader security strategy to maintain peace and stability in the border areas, which are often targeted by infiltrators and smugglers. The collaboration between the J&K Police and the BSF is vital in managing these challenges, and regular interactions such as this ensure that both forces are well-prepared to tackle any situation.
This operation underscores the commitment of the J&K Police to maintaining security in the border areas and highlights the importance of community engagement and inter-agency cooperation in addressing the unique challenges posed by the region’s geography and security dynamics. The DIG’s direct involvement in these activities sends a strong message about the seriousness with which security concerns in the Samba-Kathua border area are being addressed.
