Tony Welcomes Announcement of Assembly Polls, Calls for Restoration of Full Statehood in J&K

JAMMU: Taranjit Singh Tony, General Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), has welcomed the Election Commission of India’s announcement regarding the upcoming Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. This development, according to Tony, represents a crucial step towards re-establishing democracy in the region and ensuring that the voices of the people are heard.
Speaking after hoisting the National Flag at Babbar Chowk, Sainik Colony, Tony emphasized the urgent need to restore full-fledged statehood to Jammu and Kashmir before the elections. He articulated that the restoration of statehood would be a significant move towards addressing the aspirations of the people and ensuring effective governance.
“We view the announcement of the Assembly elections as a positive step for our region,” Tony remarked. “This is an opportunity for us to come together, work towards our shared goals, and ensure that the needs and hopes of the people are met. The restoration of full statehood is not just a demand but a necessity for the progress and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir.”
Tony called upon the people of J&K to unite and support the Congress in the upcoming elections. He asserted that under Congress leadership, the region would witness inclusive development and lasting peace. “The Congress party is committed to listening to the people’s voices and working tirelessly to bring about positive change,” he added.
During the event, Th Jai Singh, a former Corporator, praised Tony’s commitment to social work and his dedication to community welfare. He highlighted Tony’s efforts in addressing local issues and enhancing public services, commending his proactive approach to social development.
