Aid and Rescue of Female Amarnath Pilgrims by Sakhi OSC District Samba

Samba: Today, a group of Amarnath pilgrims, including four women and two men from Vijayawada, Telangana, encountered a crisis when they lost their baggage and money, including ATM cards and cash, during their pilgrimage. In need of urgent assistance, they approached the Sakhi One Stop Centre in District Samba for help with travel and boarding arrangements to return to their native place.
Immediate Response and Coordination:
Upon receiving the distress call, District Commissioner (DC) Sh. Abhishek Sharma, IAS, and District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Mr. Nawaj Sharief, JKAS, were promptly informed. They directed immediate action to ensure the pilgrims’ safe return.
Ms. Arti Sharma of the Sakhi One Stop Centre led the efforts to assist the pilgrims. Her first step was to verify the group’s identities and their RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) details, which are crucial for tracking and managing the movements of pilgrims in the Amarnath Yatra. This verification process ensured that the pilgrims were genuine and needed assistance.
Arranging Travel and Boarding:
Once the verification was completed, the focus shifted to arranging their travel and boarding. The District Red Cross Society was called upon to assist with these arrangements. The society quickly organized railway travel tickets for the group, ensuring they had confirmed seats for their journey back to Telangana. Additionally, boarding arrangements were made to provide them with a safe and comfortable place to stay until their departure.
The coordinated efforts of the Sakhi One Stop Centre, under the guidance of the DC and DSWO, showcased the efficiency and responsiveness of the local administration in handling emergencies. The swift action taken not only provided immediate relief to the pilgrims but also demonstrated the commitment of the authorities to the welfare of those undertaking the Amarnath Yatra.
