SRINAGAR : In a significant bre TVakthrough, police in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir have dismantled a human trafficking gang, rescuing four minor girls in the process. The operation, conducted on Thursday, has brought to light the nefarious activities of two local residents involved in the exploitation of vulnerable minors.

The Tip-Off and Swift Action:

Acting on a reliable tip-off, the Baramulla Police Station initiated an investigation that led them to uncover a human trafficking module operating in Ushkura, Baramulla. The prompt response by the police was instrumental in rescuing the victims and apprehending the perpetrators. The case has been registered under FIR No. 173/2024, and the police are now delving deeper into the network to identify and arrest other suspects involved in this heinous crime.

The Arrests and Rescues:

The prime accused, Shakeel Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Ushkura, Baramulla, was found to be a key player in the trafficking and exploitation of minor girls brought in from outside the Union Territory. During a meticulously planned raid at Bhat’s residence, the police team, accompanied by a magistrate and lady police officials, rescued three minor girls who were identified as Rohingya from Burma.

Further interrogation of Bhat revealed a disturbing confession: he had sold one of the girls to another individual, Mehraj-u-Din Tantray, a resident of Kanli Bagh. Acting on this information, the police conducted a subsequent raid at Tantray’s residence, resulting in the rescue of another minor Rohingya girl and the arrest of Tantray.
