Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, visited Baltal to review the security measures in place for the Amarnath Yatra. The visit aimed to ensure the safety and smooth passage of pilgrims along the route from Srinagar to Baltal, including key camping sites and the Yatra Camp at Baltal.
IGP Birdi was accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Sandeep Gupta, IPS, and other senior officers from the district. The team conducted a thorough inspection of the security arrangements to address any potential challenges and ensure a safe pilgrimage.
Security and Surveillance :The IGP inspected the deployment of security personnel along the route and at key locations, including the Baltal base camp. Emphasis was placed on using advanced surveillance tools such as CCTV cameras and drones to enhance security. Birdi also reviewed traffic management systems and the availability of parking facilities for yatri vehicles to ensure smooth movement and avoid congestion.
