Jammu :A recent report of Intelligence agencies revealed to ANI has raised alarms across security establishments, intelligence agencies and ground forces. They have revealed that approximately 35-40 foreign terrorists, suspected to be former members of Pakistan’s Special Services Group, are currently active in the Jammu region. These militants have been attempting to revive terrorism in the Rajouri, Poonch, and Kathua sectors over the past three years.
According to sources cited by the news agency ANI, these terrorists have organized themselves into small, highly mobile teams of two to three members each. This organizational structure is believed to facilitate their operations and make it more challenging for security forces to detect and neutralize them.
The intelligence inputs, backed by ground reports, indicate that these terrorists have been particularly focused on the areas south of the Pir Panjal ranges. Their activities include a series of violent incidents, such as attacks on Hindu pilgrims and security personnel in the regions of Reasi, Kathua, and Doda. These incidents underscore the persistent threat posed by these groups and have necessitated a significant escalation in security measures.
Recent security assessments have highlighted a pressing need to enhance the second-tier counter-terrorism grid along the international border. This move aims to prevent infiltration attempts by these foreign terrorists. The security forces are urged to align their efforts with the comprehensive counter-infiltration and counter-terrorist strategies currently employed along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir.
In response to this elevated threat level, security forces in Jammu have been placed on high alert. A multi-layered security protocol has been activated, which includes increased patrolling, heightened surveillance, and intensified counter-terrorism operations. The strategic emphasis is on creating a robust defense mechanism that can effectively thwart any potential terrorist activities.
Local authorities and security personnel have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. Collaboration between intelligence agencies, ground forces, and local law enforcement is being prioritized to ensure a swift and coordinated response to any threats.
This development comes at a time when the region is already grappling with various security challenges. The involvement of foreign terrorists, particularly those with specialized military training, adds a new dimension to the security landscape in Jammu. The authorities are confident, however, that with the bolstered security measures and increased vigilance, they can effectively counter this renewed terrorist threat.
The situation continues to evolve, and the security forces are prepared to adapt their strategies to meet the emerging challenges. The priority remains the safety and security of the residents in the affected areas and the preservation of peace and stability in the region.
The coming days and weeks will be crucial in determining the effectiveness of these enhanced security measures. The collective effort of all security agencies and the support of the local population will be key in thwarting the plans of these foreign terrorists and ensuring that the region does not succumb to the menace of terrorism once again.
