In a tense and dramatic turn of events, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Kathua narrowly escaped a militant ambush during an ongoing anti-militant operation in Hiranagar. The incident, which occurred amid heightened security measures, has led to significant discoveries of arms and ammunition, heightening concerns over militant activities in the region.

Ambush in Hiranagar: A Narrow Escape…

According to official sources, the convoy of the DIG and SSP came under heavy fire as a militant, concealed in the area, unleashed a barrage of over two dozen bullets on their vehicles. Miraculously, none of the officers or their accompanying personnel were harmed in the attack. The assailant’s sudden and fierce assault has underscored the persistent threats faced by security forces operating in Jammu and Kashmir.

– Eatables such as Pakistani-made chocolates, dry channa, and stale chapatis

– Pakistani-made medicines and painkiller injections

– One syringe

– Two packs of A4 batteries

– One handset, wrapped in tape with an antenna and two wires hanging from it

These findings suggest a well-prepared militant presence and hint at the logistical support possibly crossing borders, raising alarms about the sophistication and external backing of militant operatives in the region.

In a related development, a joint camp of security forces in the Chattergala area of Bhaderwah also came under militant attack. In response to this heightened militant activity, authorities have suspended traffic movement on the Bhaderwah-Pathankot Highway until further notice.
