Srinagar: Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir, R.R. Swain, announced on Saturday that stringent actions will be taken against individuals who support terrorism. The DGP’s statement underscores the region’s ongoing efforts to curb terrorism and maintain public safety.
Swain highlighted that certain elements within the community are providing shelter and logistical support to terrorists, aiding their movement from one location to another. He stressed that such activities will not be tolerated and will be met with strict measures to ensure peace and security for the broader population.
“We are compelled to take strict actions against those who support terrorists, to ensure that the rest of the people can live in peace,” Swain asserted. His statement reflects the law enforcement’s commitment to dismantling networks that facilitate terrorism.
The DGP made a direct appeal to the public, urging them to refrain from supporting terrorist activities. “I request everyone not to support terrorism. We should ensure that nobody joins terrorist ranks so that no one loses their beloved ones,” he said. Swain emphasized the collective responsibility of the community in preventing terrorism and protecting lives.
Swain further mentioned that law enforcement agencies prioritize preventing individuals from turning to violence. “At first, we always try to ensure that nobody chooses the path of violence,” he stated, indicating a preference for preemptive measures and community engagement to combat radicalization.
The DGP’s comments come in the wake of ongoing counter-terrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir, where security forces continue to target terrorist groups and their supporters. The statement serves as a warning to those aiding terrorists and a call for public cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
