In a bold move to combat rising criminal activities in District Samba, the police have detained two notorious criminals associated with the Gataru gang, including the gang’s leader Sumit Jandyal, under the stringent Jammu & Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA).

The crackdown, led by SSP Samba Vinay Sharma and SHO Vijaypur Zaheer Mushtaq, marks a significant victory in the ongoing battle against organized crime in the region. Sumit Jandyal, famously known as Gataru, and his accomplice Sourav Gupta, sons of Om Parkash from Vijaypur district, have been implicated in a series of criminal activities ranging from attempted murder and robbery to extortion and land grabbing.

Under the directive of SSP Vinay Sharma, who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to maintaining public safety, detailed dossiers were prepared highlighting the persistent criminal involvements of Gataru and Sourav.
