Jammu: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has outlined a series of initiatives to promote and diversify tourism across the Jammu Division, with the aim of developing the region as a year-round tourist hub.

Speaking during the ongoing session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister said the government is focusing on upgrading infrastructure and developing both new and existing tourist destinations.

Major interventions are planned at Suchetgarh, Shiv Khori, Bhaderwah, Basohli and Mansar to improve visitor facilities and enhance the tourism experience.

The government is also prioritising the development of five pilgrimage circuits, covering destinations including Mansar, Shiv Khori, Uttarvehni and Purmandal.

Omar Abdullah said sustained promotional campaigns would be undertaken at local, national and international levels through tourism expos, festivals, travel marts and digital platforms.

The initiatives are also expected to generate local employment and livelihood opportunities through homestays, tour guiding and other tourism-related services, while increasing the region’s visibility as a diverse tourism destination.
