Mobile STEM Lab Sparks Curiosity, Creativity, and Hands-On Discovery in Middle School Phey’s Young Minds
Leh, 15 Sept 2026 — An engaging day of scientific exploration and experiential learning was organised at Govt. Middle School Phey with the visit of the STEM Lab Bus of DIET Leh. The initiative aimed to provide students with opportunities to understand scientific and mathematical concepts through practical experiences and interactive demonstrations.
The programme was carried out under the guidance of Principal DIET Leh, Sh. Sonam Dorjey Namgail, and Head of Science Department, Ms. Tsering Yangdol. The STEM sessions were facilitated by Ms. Chetna Sharma, Ms. Kunzes Dolma, and Ms. Rashida Parveen (Science Resource Persons).
Students were introduced to a variety of activity-based experiments and demonstrations in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Learners participated actively, displaying keen interest while observing experiments, asking questions,
and exploring scientific concepts. The sessions created an atmosphere of curiosity and discovery, encouraging students to develop logical reasoning, creativity, scientific temper, problem-solving abilities, and collaborative skills.
In continuation of its STEM Lab outreach activities, DIET Leh also gifted a set of laboratory equipment to the school, aimed at enhancing scientific experiments and strengthening hands-on learning opportunities for students.
The Headmaster of Govt. Middle School Phey appreciated the initiative and acknowledged DIET Leh’s efforts in taking practical and innovative STEM learning to schools. She highlighted that such programmes provide students with valuable opportunities to move beyond textbook-based learning and engage with concepts in a meaningful manner.
This visit is part of DIET Leh’s continued mission to promote experiential, activity-based, and innovative learning across schools of Ladakh. Through the Mobile STEM Lab initiative, DIET Leh seeks to nurture curiosity, creativity, and a lasting interest in Science and technology among young learners.
