Reasi:Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Udhampur-Reasi Range, visited Sudini village in Pouni and conducted a comprehensive review of the security arrangements in Bhambla, Kalidhar and adjoining areas of district Reasi in view of the ongoing search operations and the forthcoming Shri Buda Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026.
During the visit, the DIG inspected security arrangements and operational preparedness at strategically important locations, including Sungal Tunnel, Kalidhar, Bambla and Sudini. He assessed the deployment of security personnel, surveillance arrangements, area domination measures and the preparedness of the forces to respond effectively to any emerging security challenge.
The DIG was accompanied by the Additional SP Reasi, SHO Police Station Pouni, Incharge Police Post Bambla, and officers and personnel of the J&K Police and CAPF deployed from Sunderbani.
Interacting with the officers and personnel on the ground, Sh. Shiv Kumar Sharma directed them to maintain a high degree of alertness and vigilance, intensify area domination and ensure effective surveillance of vulnerable and strategically important locations. He stressed the need for close coordination among all security agencies and timely sharing of intelligence and operational information to strengthen the overall security grid.
The DIG also reviewed security arrangements in the context of the Shri Buda Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 and directed the officers to ensure foolproof arrangements for the safe, smooth and peaceful movement of pilgrims. He emphasized that coordinated efforts, sustained patrolling and effective ground-level monitoring would be crucial for maintaining a secure environment throughout the pilgrimage.
During the visit, the DIG also interacted with Swami Vishavatma Nand Saraswati Ji of Sunderbani Ashram and sought his cooperation and support in ensuring a peaceful, orderly and secure pilgrimage.
Later, a public meeting was organized at Bambla, where the DIG interacted with local residents and listened to their concerns and suggestions. He emphasized the importance of sustained police-public engagement and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly share any information that could have a bearing on peace and security in the area.
Sh. Shiv Kumar Sharma assured the gathering of continued police support and reiterated that active cooperation between the security forces and the local community is vital for maintaining peace, harmony and a secure environment, particularly during the ongoing security operations and the Shri Buda Amarnath Ji Yatra.
The visit underscored the commitment of the Udhampur-Reasi Range Police to strengthening security arrangements, enhancing inter-agency coordination and ensuring the safety of pilgrims as well as the local population across the strategically sensitive areas of district Reasi.
