The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh, successfully concluded two five-day Bhoti Teachers’ Training Programmes today for teachers from all six educational zones of Ladakh, namely Nyoma, Durbuk, Kharu, Leh, Khaltsi, and Nubra.

The first training programme was conducted at the Main Hall of DIET Leh from 20 to 24 July 2026 for 150 Bhoti teachers teaching at the Primary and Middle School levels.

The second training programme, organized simultaneously at the Conference Hall of the National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa (NISR), Leh, concluded today for 80 Bhoti teachers teaching at the High and Higher Secondary School levels.

On the occasion, Shri Sonam Dorjay Namgail, Principal, DIET Leh, expressed his gratitude to the Chief Resource Persons, Gen Mengchung La, General Secretary, Executive Management, Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV), Dharamshala, and Mr. Nawang Chimba of Tibetan Children’s Village, Dharamshala, for their valuable academic contributions. He also thanked all the participating teachers for their enthusiastic participation throughout the training.

During the programme for Primary and Middle School teachers, Mr. Nawang Chimba conducted intensive sessions on Bhoti calligraphy, handwriting skills, and innovative teaching-learning methodologies aimed at strengthening teachers’ pedagogical competencies and enhancing classroom practices.

The training for High and Higher Secondary School teachers, led by Gen Mengchung La, included specialized sessions on Bhoti poetry and prose writing, innovative learner-centred teaching methodologies, and Bhoti grammar. These sessions were designed to enhance teachers’ language proficiency, literary appreciation, and classroom teaching skills, enabling them to deliver more effective and engaging Bhoti language instruction.

In his concluding remarks, Shri S.D. Namgail, Principal, DIET Leh, emphasized the importance of continuous professional development for teachers and highlighted DIET Leh’s ongoing initiatives for the promotion, preservation, and development of the Bhoti language. He briefed the participants on the institute’s efforts in developing Bhoti textbooks, teaching-learning materials (TLMs), and other academic resources in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

He appreciated the active participation of all the teachers and urged them to apply the knowledge, skills, and innovative teaching practices acquired during the training to improve the quality of Bhoti language teaching and learning in classrooms across Ladakh.
