Suryakumar Yadav Dismisses Fake Social Media Statement, Reiterates Support For India

Former India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav on Tuesday dismissed a statement circulating on social media as fake, saying he had neither made nor authorised it, and urged people not to share unverified information.
The clarification came after a purported statement, attributed to Suryakumar, went viral following his replacement by Shreyas Iyer as India’s T20I captain and his omission from the squads for the UK tour and the Asian Games. The viral post claimed that the batter had not been given clarity about his future and had not received the respect he deserved.
Responding to the speculation, Suryakumar issued a statement on X.
“I’ve also noticed a statement being circulated online that has been falsely attributed to me. I want to make it clear that I have not made or authorised any such statement. Please don’t believe or share unverified information,” Suryakumar wrote.
He also reiterated his support for the Indian team.
“I’m very happy for the team and wish them nothing but the very best, always. I know the boys are giving it their all, and they will always have my full support. My support for Indian cricket, my teammates, and the game will always speak louder than words falsely attributed to me,” he added.
Suryakumar also had words of encouragement for 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who became the youngest Indian to make an international debut after featuring in the second T20I against England at the age of 15 years and 99 days.
“A special word for Vaibhav – you’re at the start of what promises to be a very exciting journey. Enjoy every moment and keep making the country proud,” Suryakumar said.
