The Deputy Commissioner, Changthang, Nitish Rajora (IAS),today visited Sub-Division Durbuk and reviewed various developmental and public welfare activities in the region.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner undertook a series of official engagements aimed at strengthening public service delivery, infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and community welfare.
The Deputy Commissioner first visited the Army Headquarters 114 at Tangtse, where Army officers briefed him about the strategically significant areas of Eastern Ladakh and the developmental initiatives being carried out by the Army under Operation Sadbhavana.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the public at the Meeting Hall of PHC Tangtse. During the interaction, the public projected various demands and issues through memorandums. The Deputy Commissioner assured the public that their demands would be addressed in a phased manner.
A review meeting with sectoral officers of Sub-Division Durbuk was also convened, wherein the Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to ensure timely implementation of government schemes and achieve saturation of developmental targets for the benefit of the people.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner felicitated the toppers of Classes 10th and 12th from the Sub-Division for their outstanding performance in the recently declared CBSE examinations. He congratulated the students and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in academics.
The Deputy Commissioner also distributed tents and other essential accessories among grazers, which were arranged by the Sheep Husbandry Department to support the nomadic and pastoral communities of the region.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected PHC Tangtse and interacted with the medical staff regarding healthcare facilities and service delivery. He also visited the newly under-construction building of PHC Tangtse being executed by Central Public Works Department.
Further, the Deputy Commissioner in presence of Sh.Mohammad Ismail Ganie JKAS, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Durbuk and Sh. Mohd.Ali Khan Executive Engineer (R&B) Division Leh, laid the foundation stone for staff quarters at the Revenue Administrative Complex Tangtse. The project will be constructed by the Public Works Department at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.93 crore.
As part of the mass plantation campaign “Ek Paed Maa Ke Naam,” the Deputy Commissioner planted a sapling at the Revenue Administrative Complex Tangtse and highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and afforestation.
The Deputy Commissioner also interacted with the staff and students of GHSS Tharuk and encouraged students to focus on education and extracurricular activities for overall development.
Later, he joined the students and staff of GMS Tharuk in celebrating the International Day for Biological Diversity and emphasized the importance of protecting biodiversity and preserving the fragile ecosystem of Ladakh for future generations.
