India Retain Top Spot In ICC ODI Rankings, New Zealand Cut Lead To Five Points

India continued to hold the No. 1 position in the latest ICC Men’s ODI Team Rankings released on Monday, although their lead at the top has narrowed following the annual update.
India dropped one rating point from 119 to 118, while New Zealand gained two points to move to 113, reducing the gap between the top two sides from eight points to five.
The Rohit Sharma-led side, however, continues to dominate white-ball cricket after also retaining the No. 1 spot in the ICC men’s T20I rankings in last week’s update.
Australia, the reigning ODI world champions, remained third with an unchanged rating of 109.
South Africa made the biggest gain among the top-ranked teams, climbing above Pakistan to fourth place. The Proteas gained four rating points to move to 102, while Pakistan dropped four points to 98 and slipped to fifth.
Sri Lanka retained sixth place despite losing two points and now sit on 96, while Afghanistan remained seventh with 93 points. England stayed eighth after gaining one rating point, and Bangladesh held on to ninth place with 84 points.
West Indies, meanwhile, lost three rating points to remain 10th with 74, widening the gap between themselves and Bangladesh.
Outside the top 10, Ireland overtook Zimbabwe to move into 11th place after gaining two points. Zimbabwe slipped to 12th following a one-point decline.
The United States climbed above Scotland into 13th place after improving to 46 rating points, while Scotland dropped one place after losing a point.
The Netherlands were among the biggest gainers in the annual update, adding four points to move to 44, while Oman improved to 33.
Nepal dropped four points to 25, while Namibia improved marginally to 23.
Further down the table, the UAE climbed above Canada into 19th position after gaining three points. Canada suffered the sharpest fall in the latest update, losing six points to remain bottom of the table with a rating of 10.
The ICC annual update factors in performances over a defined period, with recent results carrying greater weight in the calculation of team ratings.
Alongside India’s continued dominance in ODI and T20I cricket, Australia currently lead the ICC men’s Test rankings and also top both the women’s ODI and women’s T20I standings.
